(The Guardian) Special counsel to speak with more witnesses ahead of potential Trump indictmentFederal prosecutors investigating Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results are expected to speak with additional witnesses in the coming weeks. A Thursday midnight deadline passed for the former president to say if he would appear before a Washington grand jury to consider federal charges over his election subversion and incitement of the attack on Congress on 6 January 2021. Prosecutors appear to have evidence to charge Trump with three crimes: obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and section 241 of the US legal code that makes it unlawful to conspire to violate civil rights. At the same time, prosecutors are believed to be in talks with at least two witnesses to schedule interviews that won’t be completed for at least another month. Former New York City police commissioner Bernie Kerik, a Trump ally, is still in the process of scheduling his interview with investigators, and a former Trump lawyer plans to talk to investigators next month, sources familiar with the planned meetings told CNN. On Thursday, a federal grand jury investigating Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election heard testimony from William Russell, an aide who was with the former president for much of the day on 6 January 2021. A data expert who worked on the 2020 election was also scheduled to appear before the grand jury, according to the Washington Post.

(The Guardian) Special counsel obtains documents from ex-adviser to Trump campaign - reportCNN has reported new details of special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn his 2022 election loss, including that Bernie Kerik, a former New York City police commissioner who worked with the Trump campaign to uncover fraud, has turned over a trove of documents to the prosecutor. The materials include research and witness statements produced by the team, which was led by Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani. CNN reports that Kerik will meet with Smith’s prosecutors next month for an interview. Here’s more from CNN’s story: Former New York Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik was part of the team led by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani trying to uncover fraud that would swing the election in favor of Trump.
For months, Kerik had tried to shield some of the documents from investigators, citing privilege.
But in recent weeks, Kerik gave the documents to the Trump’s 2024 campaign to review. After that review, the campaign declined to assert privilege, according to Kerik’s lawyer, Tim Parlatore, who turned over the documents to Smith’s office on Sunday.
“I have shared all of these documents, approximately 600MB, mostly pdfs, with the Special Counsel and look forward to sitting down with them in about 2 weeks to discuss.” Parlatore said.
Kerik is scheduled to sit down for an interview with the special counsel’s office next month, CNN has learned.
Among the materials now in Smith’s possession are witness statements, research and other documents produced by Giuliani’s team.
When the January 6 congressional committee subpoenaed Kerik for documents, he provided a log of his communications that he said he was withholding due to privilege. Those communications have never been disclosed publicly, as the committee did not challenge Kerik’s privilege claims in court.

(The Guardian) Federal prosecutors could hand down another indictment against Donald Trump this week, likely for his involvement in the January 6 insurrection. But as the Guardian’s Kira Lerner reports, a new study of US democracy indicates his legal troubles present a threat to the country’s stability: The June federal indictment of Donald Trump is “radicalizing” support for the use of force on behalf of the former president and current presidential candidate, according to the author of a recent survey about threats to democracy.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle, support for violence to restore the federal right to an abortion has also increased over the last few months, researchers found, although there’s little indication that any organized groups support acting on this belief. The Dangers to Democracy report indicates that a growing number of Americans support the use of political violence as the 2024 presidential campaign heats up and further indictments of Trump are likely imminent.

(The Guardian) Trump lawyer Giuliani acknowledges false statements about Georgia election workersViewers of last year’s January 6 committee hearings may remember Ruby Freeman and her mother Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, two Georgia election workers who gave emotional testimony about how lies told by Donald Trump’s allies essentially ruined their lives. Moss and Freeman have sued Rudy Giuliani, one of the former president’s most boisterous lawyers, over the damage done by the false statements, and as the Guardian’s Michael Sainato reports, Giuliani just admitted that none of what was said about the election workers was true: A court filing by Rudy Giuliani in response to a lawsuit filed against him by two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, included a concession: Giuliani admitted to making defamatory statements against the workers.
The workers complained in court that Giuliani has failed to produce records of the exchange between then president Donald Trump and Giuliani, who served as Trump’s attorney at the time in the wake of his 2020 presidential election loss. The election workers were cited by Giuliani and then Trump as an example of election fraud in Georgia where they were accused of manipulating ballots – despite the claims being repeatedly debunked by Georgia election officials and federal investigators.

(The Guardian) Trump says DoJ gave 'no indication of notice' to his lawyersDonald Trump said his attorneys had a “productive” meeting with the Department of Justice this morning, and that “no indication of notice” was given during the meeting. Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote: My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country. No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything! It was reported earlier today that Trump’s lawyers were seen entering the offices of special counsel Jack Smith, a week after the former president said he had received a target letter from Smith. According to NBC, Trump’s attorneys were told to expect an indictment against him. Donald Trump’s spokesperson Steven Cheung said a previous report by NBC that the former president’s lawyers were told to expect an indictment was “incorrect”.

(The Guardian) Trump expects to be indicted ‘any day now’ on January 6 chargesDonald Trump said he expects he could be indicted “any day now” as part of special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the January 6 insurrection. Smith has been looking into Trump’s efforts to remain in office following his 2020 election defeat to Joe Biden. Federal prosecutors have assembled evidence to charge Trump with three crimes, the Guardian has reported: obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and a statute that makes it unlawful to conspire to violate civil rights. Trump, posting to Truth Social on Monday, wrote: I assume that an Indictment from Deranged Jack Smith and his highly partisan gang of Thugs, pertaining to my “PEACEFULLY & PATRIOTICALLY Speech, will be coming out any day now, as yet another attempt to cover up all of the bad news about bribes, payoffs, and extortion, coming from the Biden ‘camp.’ This seems to be the way they do it. ELECTION INTERFERENCE! PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT!

(The Guardian) Federal grand jury considering charging Trump over January 6 reconvenes ahead of potential indictmentThe wait continues to find out whether special counsel Jack Smith will indict Donald Trump over his involvement in the January 6 insurrection, and there are signs this morning a decision could come soon. CNN spotted grand jurors arriving at a federal courthouse in Washington DC where they’re considering evidence in the case, but there’s no telling when a decision could come. Signs that Trump could be charged have been mounting. Last week, the former president said he had received a target letter from Smith, a step typically taken before someone is indicted. And yesterday, Trump said he expected charges to be filed “any day now”. But the winding legal saga has yet to dent his standing in the GOP, or even in the presidential race at large. New polling from the New York Times shows him crushing every other Republican candidate in the presidential nomination race, and tied with Joe Biden in the general election.

(The Guardian) Donald Trump has released a statement on the indictment returned by the federal grand jury hearing evidence in the special counsel’s investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The indictment does not include the number of defendants or the identity of any defendant, as we have already reported. -- This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner, and leading by substantial margins.
But why did they wait two and a half years to bring these fake charges, right in the middle of President Trump’s winning campaign for 2024? Why was it announced the day after the big Crooked Joe Biden scandal broke out from the Halls of Congress?
The answer is, election interference! The lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union, and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes. President Trump has always followed the law and the Constitution, with advice from many highly accomplished attorneys.
These un-American witch hunts will fail and President Trump will be re-elected to the White House so he can save our Country from the abuse, incompetence, and corruption that is running through the veins of our Country at levels never seen before.
Three years ago we had strong borders, energy independence, no inflation, and a great economy. Today, we are a nation in decline. President Trump will not be deterred by disgraceful and unprecedented political targeting!
